At the Monrovia Historical Museum, our volunteers bring history to life—and each brings different talents, interests, and experiences to the Museum.
This month, our Volunteer Spotlight is on Julio Alvarado, pictured at upper left. Now retired, Julio continues to give back to the community by volunteering not only with the Museum, but also with the Veterans Resource Center at the Monrovia Public Library. Julio is a wonderful example of something we want everyone to know: you don’t have to be a student or a historian to make a difference at the Museum.

Our volunteers include students, retirees, history enthusiasts, craftspeople, artists, and community members who simply want to lend a hand. Whether you enjoy giving tours, researching and preserving artifacts, building exhibits, working with wood or paint, graphic design, social media, or helping with special events, there’s a place for you at the Museum.
Along the way, you may learn something new, make new friends, and become part of preserving the stories that make Monrovia unique.
