MONROVIA'S HISTORY THROUGH ARCHITECTURE

Picture
OUR NEWEST EXHIBIT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION! THANKS TO OUR GENEROUS SPONSORS, DONORS and VOLUNTEERS!
In collaboration with the Monrovia Historic Preservation Group (MOHPG), architect Mark Houston Associates, Bowden Development,  other local businesses and members of our community, we are proud to present the Museum's latest exhibit.

The purpose of this exciting new exhibit is to showcase and educate Museum visitors on the architectural history and heritage of Monrovia Homes (from Victorian, Craftsman to Mid-Century Modern etc.); architecture’s impact upon the community and the importance of preservation, as well as the criteria for Landmarking.

Some of the information provided within the exhibit is designed to educate and answer the many questions people often have about our historical architecture, in the format of a chronological storyboard of architectural styles, as follows:
  • Victorian
  • Four Square
  • Craftsman
  • Spanish Colonial Revival
  • English Tudor
  • Mid century-modern

Other information and ideas may include:
  • Early structures
  • Kit homes
  • Lost structures/early fires/buildings moved
  • List of landmark homes (touch screen monitor)
  • Commercial buildings (touch screen monitor)
  • Landmarking and Mills Act (touch screen monitor)
  • Importance of preservation (touch screen monitor)
  • And other ideas that may get introduced

If you have any questions or would like to schedule a time to speak with or discuss this project with our exhibit lead, Vicky Hansen, please email, call, or visit us! Click <here> for our contact information.
