RECORD-SHATTERING MEDALIST IN SIX OLYMPIC GAMES

  • 1996 Atlanta - Gold (Double Trap)
  • 2000 Sydney - Bronze (Double Trap)
  • 2004 Athens - Gold (Double Trap)
  • 2008 Beijing - Silver (Skeet)
  • 2012 London - Gold (Skeet)
  • 2016 Rio de Janeiro - Bronze (Skeet)

Kim Rhode is the first Olympian to win a medal on five different continents, the first Summer Olympian to win an individual medal at six consecutive summer games, and the first woman to medal in six consecutive Olympics.

She was only 17 years old when she was crowned Olympic champion for the first time, dominating the qualifying rounds and the final of the double trap with two Olympic records of 108 and 141 points, at the Atlanta games. Women’s double trap was subsequently dropped as an Olympic event, but Rhode made a seamless transition to international skeet and, in August 2008, tied with two other competitors in the final at the Beijing Games, achieving an Olympic record score of 93.

A 20+ year resident of Monrovia, Rhode grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, having graduated from Arroyo High in El Monte and studied at Cal Poly Pomona.  She plans to compete in several more Olympic Games, especially her hometown games at Los Angeles 2028.
