| The Monrovia Historical Museum recognizes and honors Mary Jane Hall Monroe (1846-1932) and all mothers this month on Mother's Day. She was the wife of our city's founder, William Newton Monroe, and mother to their five children, the eldest being Myrtle Mignonette Monroe, for whom Myrtle Avenue was named. One of the photographs shows Mr. and Mrs. Monroe's family on May 17, 1931, Monrovia Day, a year before her passing. |
